How coaching helps parents

ADHD coaching offers practical strategies and emotional support to help you manage the complexities of parenting a child with ADHD. It starts by helping you understand ADHD, providing insights into your child's unique brain wiring and how it impacts their behavior and learning. You will develop coping strategies, learning effective techniques to manage your child's symptoms and improve their executive functioning skills.

Enhancing communication is another key focus, as you'll work on improving communication within your family to foster better relationships and reduce conflicts.

Finally, ADHD coaching provides emotional support, guiding you in managing your own stress, frustration, and emotional regulation, enabling you to better support your child.

My unique parenting experience & passion

As a parent of two gifted and twice-exceptional children with ADHD, I have firsthand experience navigating these challenges. My journey has taught me the importance of understanding ADHD and finding effective strategies to support my children's unique needs. I have faced the overwhelm, exhaustion, and frustration that come with parenting neurodiverse children. However, I have learnt to look beyond the behaviour, to find a place of acceptance and focus on my children’s strengths. I have also learnt that in order to help my children, I need to also prioritise my own self-care. These experiences have fuelled my passion for helping other parents in similar situations.

By working together, we can create a supportive and empowering environment for your family. ADHD coaching can help you develop the skills and confidence needed to manage your child's symptoms and enhance their strengths, leading to a more fulfilling family life.

Common struggles parents face

  • Managing the constant demands and unpredictable behaviours of a child with ADHD can lead to burnout and fatigue. Parents often feel isolated and misunderstood, struggling to keep up with daily tasks and responsibilities.

  • Both children with ADHD and their parents may struggle with regulating emotions, leading to frequent outbursts and heightened stress levels. This can create a challenging home environment.

  • Parents often feel frustrated by their child's difficulties in school and social settings, and may experience guilt or self-doubt about their parenting abilities.

  • Many struggles related to ADHD are not visible to others outside the family. This can lead to a lack of understanding and support from extended family, friends, and educators.

  • It can be difficult for parents to maintain their composure and manage their own emotions when dealing with their child's ADHD-related behaviours.
